Allied Health Positions We Place
Our medical staffing consultants place skilled candidates in a variety of allied health jobs, including (in alphabetical order):
CAT Scan Technologist (CT)
CAT scan technologists perform all computerized axial tomographic procedures using computed tomography (CT). CT scans produce three-dimensional images of the body from cross-sectional X-rays for interpretation and diagnosing by a physician. CAT scan technologists position patients on the examining table so parts of the body can be imaged effectively. All work performed by a CAT scan technologist must be done under the direct supervision of a radiologist.
Mammographer
Mammographers, or mammography technologists, operate specialized mammography equipment to obtain mammograms: images of the breast for the medical diagnosis and evaluation of patients. Mammography technologists create images using low-dose X-ray machines. Additional job duties include providing patients with breast-health education. Mammographers must undergo formal training through an accredited program and require special licensing.
MRI Technologist
MRI technologists, or MRI technicians, create three-dimensional images of specified body parts by utilizing specialized magnetic resonance imaging scanners in order to aid in patient diagnosis. They position patients correctly on an examining table and effectively record diagnostic images as requested. MRI technologists must perform all imaging under direct supervision of a radiologist. MRI technologists must undergo formal training through an accredited program.
Nuclear Medicine Technician
Nuclear medicine technicians provide diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. They operate cameras that detect and monitor signals from a radioactive drug in a patient’s body in order to create a diagnostic image. The images are recorded on film or a computer screen for physicians to interpret. Nuclear medicine technicians must administer and record isotope dosage according to established departmental protocol to keep radiation levels as low as possible for both workers and patients. Nuclear medicine technicians must undergo formal training in an accredited program and require certification.
Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists provide prescribed medication to patients by performing tasks such as counting pills and labeling medicine containers. Job duties include preparing patient profiles, filling medication drawers and exchanges cards, preparing pre-operative medications, preparing injectable medications by preloading syringes, preparing hyperalimentation solutions and IV bags, preparing and packaging unit-dose medications and reading patient charts. Pharmacy technicians may also perform administrative duties including stocking shelves, operating cash drawers, answering phones and other responsibilities. Pharmacy technicians must possess certification.
Radiologic Technologist
Radiologic technologists position patients on the examining table and adjust devices to obtain optimum views of specified body areas. Radiologic technologists may administer nonradioactive materials into a patient’s bloodstream and operate radiologic equipment to produce X-ray films or more complex imaging procedures of the body for diagnostic purposes. They may also keep patient records, prepare work schedules, maintain equipment or manage the radiology department. Radiologic technologists must undergo education from an accredited program and require a full state license.
Ultrasonographer
Ultrasonographers, or ultrasound technologists, operate ultrasound equipment for the medical diagnosis and evaluation of patients. The special equipment used directs high-frequency sound waves into the body and collects the reflective echoes as images that can be photographed, videotaped or transmitted for interpretation and diagnostic purposes by a physician. Ultrasonographers may also act as recordkeepers, maintain equipment, prepare work schedules or manage the sonography department. Ultrasonographers should be trained through an accredited program and must possess a license.
X-ray Technician/Radiology Technician, Limited License
X-ray technicians, also known as radiology technicians, operate routine X-ray devices and develop X-ray film for diagnostic purposes. They position patients and adjust devices to obtain optimum views of extremities (chest, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, foot and ankle). X-ray technicians also evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and adjust techniques or positioning when necessary. Radiology technicians must undergo formal training through an accredited program and require a limited state license.
