At Medical Resources Staffing Services, we believe professionals in the laboratory science and biotechnology setting play a crucial role in patient care through their ability to detect and diagnose diseases and develop cutting-edge medical technologies. Our staffing consultants help contribute to this advancement of healthcare by placing candidates in biotech research and science jobs with leading companies and medical organizations in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

Scientific and Biotech Positions We Place

We place qualified candidates in the following science and biotech research jobs (in alphabetical order):

Chemist

Chemists use their knowledge of chemical s to create new and improved drugs for treating medical patients. Chemists usually work in research and development on computers to analyze complex data and work with other scientists to translate the new knowledge into pharmaceuticals. Chemists possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field and may possess a master’s degree or Ph.D.

Clinical Trials Research Coordinator

Clinical trials research coordinators conduct investigations of new and improved drugs on human patients in a biotech/pharmaceutical setting. They coordinate single or multiple phases of clinical trials, which include administering drugs or other treatments to groups of volunteers from small to large in order to determine proper protocols, dosage levels and report potential side effects or adverse reactions. Job duties include enrolling volunteers in clinical trials, planning, tracking and facilitating projects, following all guidelines and regulations, documenting findings, recording data and presenting project proposals to sponsors. Clinical trials research coordinators must possess medical-related education from an accredited program and working knowledge of complex medical terminology.

Medical Laboratory Assistant

Medical laboratory assistants support research or production by performing routine technical work in a laboratory, often under the direction of a clinical laboratory scientist or medical laboratory technologist. Job duties include preparing samples for testing, maintaining manual and computer records of testing and maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory of supplies. Medical laboratory assistants may also perform administrative duties such as clinical data entry and generating identification numbers. Medical laboratory assistants require no formal education.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Medical laboratory technicians perform routine technical work in a laboratory under the direction of the clinical laboratory scientist. Technical work includes less complex laboratory tests and procedures than medical technologists or clinical laboratory scientists do such as preparing specimens, performing manual tests with detailed instructions, operating automated analyzers and more. Medical laboratory technicians can either specialize in one area of the laboratory or work in several areas. Medical laboratory technicians must undergo formal training in an accredited associate or certification program.

Medical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Medical laboratory technologists, or clinical laboratory scientists, work in conjunction with pathologists, scientists and physicians in all general areas of the clinical laboratory. Medical technologists examine body fluids in a variety of ways including analyzing their chemical content and looking for microorganisms, matching blood for transfusions, testing drug levels in the blood for treatment response, preparing specimens for analysis and more. Work is done using sophisticated equipment, such as high-power automated equipment, computerized instruments, microscopes and cell counters. They may also teach and supervise laboratory assistants, technicians and other personnel. Medical laboratory technologists must obtain a bachelor’s degree and a state license.

Medical Scientist

Medical scientists conduct research and development on biological systems to discover bacteria, viruses and other infectious agents and find ways of preventing infectious diseases and improving health. Their work contributes to major advancements in vaccines, medicines and other treatments for the prevention of many diseases and conditions. Medical scientists who are also physicians may conduct clinical trials, administering drugs to patients and monitoring the outcomes to adjust dosage levels for minimal side effects. Medical scientists typically possess an advanced degree in biological science or a medical degree.

Phlebotomist

Phlebotomists are responsible for creating a patient’s blood history by obtaining and collecting blood samples from patients or donors through venipuncture and other techniques as ordered by a physician. They also prepare and process blood for tests, prepare stains and reagents and measure patient pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate.

QA/QC Personnel

Quality control personnel monitor the production of new and improved drugs and other medical products in biotech/pharmaceutical research laboratories. QA/QC personnel are involved at every stage of production, from closely examining materials on the production line to performing the final check of the finished product. QA/QC jobs involve noting problems and rejecting defective products to guarantee the quality of all products. Other job duties include recording data, calibrating instruments, and testing and repairing equipment. QA/QC personnel usually possess a degree in a related science, but may also be trained on the job.
